BEEP Terms of Service
Effective date: 7 August 2026 Last updated: 27 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and BEETOWN ("BEEP", "we", "us"), D-6/001, Nahur Village Road, Mulund West, Mumbai 400080, India, for use of the BEEP app.
By creating an account you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use BEEP.
How we handle your data is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.
1. Who can use BEEP
- You must be at least 13 years old. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and refuse accounts below that age.
- Give us your real date of birth. It is what keeps under-18s and adults apart on BEEP. Entering a false date of birth is a serious breach of these terms and we will close the account.
- Users aged 13–17 and users aged 18+ cannot see or contact each other anywhere in BEEP. Do not attempt to get around that separation.
- If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use BEEP with your parent or guardian's permission, and they accept these terms with you.
- One account per person. Do not create an account for someone else, and do not use an account that has been suspended or banned.
2. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users
BEEP has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour.
Content that breaks the rules in section 3 is removed, and accounts that post it are suspended or permanently banned — including on a first offence, where the behaviour is serious.
We aim to review every report within 24 hours and to act on it immediately where it is upheld.
3. Rules of use
Do not post
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form. This is reported to the authorities and the account is banned permanently and immediately.
- Sexual or pornographic content, or nudity.
- Threats, incitement to violence, or content glorifying violence.
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, or targeting a person with abuse.
- Hate speech or slurs directed at people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, or disability.
- Content promoting self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
- Illegal goods or services, including drugs and weapons.
- Someone else's private information — address, phone number, workplace, or anything else that could identify or locate them.
- Spam, scams, phishing, pyramid schemes, or bulk commercial promotion.
- Content that infringes someone's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
Do not do
- Impersonate another person, or misrepresent who you are.
- Falsify your location, or use tools that spoof where your device is.
- Follow, track, or repeatedly approach someone who does not want contact.
- Contact anyone who has blocked you, including through another account.
- Attempt to reach users in the other age group.
- Collect or scrape data about BEEP's users.
- Use bots, automated scripts, or interfere with our rate limits and abuse protections.
- Attempt to break, probe, or overload our systems.
- Use BEEP for anything unlawful.
4. Location, and what you publish
BEEP is a location app. Understand the difference between these two things:
- When you post, you publish a place. A beep, event, venue or check-in is pinned to where you were, and anyone nearby can see it. Do not post from your home, your school, or anywhere you would not want strangers to know you are.
- Simply being present does not publish a place. Other users only ever see a rough distance band, never your coordinates. Ghost mode hides you entirely, and is on by default for users aged 13–17.
Two features share more, and only by explicit, mutual choice: accepting a meet-in-the-middle shares an approximate midpoint (and so a rough sense of each side's area) between two connections, and walk sharing (18+ only) streams your exact position to one connection for a fixed time you start, see, and can stop. Do not start a walk share to harass, follow, or pressure anyone — and never demand one from someone else.
You are responsible for what you choose to publish.
5. Meeting people in person
BEEP helps you find people nearby. Meeting them is your decision and your risk.
We do not verify identity and we do not run background checks on anyone. A profile is only what its owner typed. If you decide to meet someone:
- Meet in public, the first time and every early time.
- Tell someone you trust where you are going and when.
- Do not share your home address, workplace or financial details.
- Leave if you feel uncomfortable. You never owe anyone your time.
- If someone under 18 is being contacted by an adult on BEEP, report it immediately.
In an emergency, contact your local emergency services. BEEP is not a safety service and cannot help you in an emergency.
6. Reporting, blocking and moderation
You have these tools, and we encourage you to use them:
- Report — any user, beep or message can be reported from the app.
- Block — blocking is immediate and works in both directions. The person blocked is not told, and you disappear from each other's feeds, people nearby, search, and messages.
- Ghost mode — hides you from people nearby at any time.
On our side:
- Uploaded images are screened automatically before anyone can see them, and rejected if they contain prohibited content.
- Text is checked against a prohibited-terms list when posted.
- Reports go to a moderation queue we review, with the goal of acting within 24 hours.
- Moderators can hide content and suspend or ban accounts.
Automated screening is not perfect, in either direction. Reporting is how things get to a human.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you post.
To run BEEP we need permission to handle it, so you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, resizing an image), and display your content for the purpose of operating and improving BEEP. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except that:
- copies may persist briefly in backups and caches, and
- we may retain content where we need it to enforce these terms, handle a report, or comply with the law.
We do not sell your content and we do not use it to advertise to you.
You confirm that you have the right to post what you post.
8. Our rights
BEEP — the app, its design, and its name and logo — belongs to us. These terms do not give you the right to copy it, reverse engineer it, resell it, or build a competing service from it.
We license BEEP to you personally: a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or permanently close an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably believe puts other users at risk, or where we are legally required to. Where it is appropriate and lawful, we will tell you why.
You can leave at any time. Delete your account from Profile → Delete account. What happens to your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
Sections 7 (the parts about retained content), 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14 survive the end of this agreement.
10. Third-party services
BEEP uses services we do not control, including Mapbox for the map, Apple Push Notification service for notifications, and the app store you installed from. Your use of those parts is also subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.
11. Disclaimers
BEEP is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that BEEP will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that any content is accurate, or that any person is who they claim to be.
We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, online or in person.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions; where that is so, they do not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or for any harm arising from your interactions with other users.
Our total liability arising out of or relating to BEEP is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your use of BEEP, your breach of these terms, or your violation of anyone's rights.
14. Changes, governing law, and contact
Changes. We may update the app and these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will give notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use BEEP after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Mumbai, India have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.

Appendix — terms required for the Apple App Store
These apply where you obtained BEEP from Apple's App Store, and are required by Apple where a developer supplies its own licence agreement.
- This agreement is with us, not Apple. BEEP is licensed, not sold, to you, and Apple is not a party to these terms.
- Scope. The licence in section 8 is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
- Maintenance and support are our responsibility, not Apple's. Apple has no obligation to provide any support for BEEP.
- Warranty. If BEEP fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever, and any other claims are our responsibility.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to BEEP, including product liability, failure to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection claims.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims BEEP infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using BEEP.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, will have the right to enforce them against you.
